A Stroll Through... ALNMOUTH

Alnmouth is a small yet exceptionally picturesque village on the Northumberland coast in North East England. Situated at the mouth of the River Aln, where it meets the North Sea, it lies around four miles from Alnwick and approximately 35 miles north of Newcastle upon Tyne.

It is one of those places that never tries too hard to impress, yet leaves a lasting impression on everyone who visits. Alnmouth is known for its colourful houses, relaxed atmosphere, and wide sandy beach where the river meets the sea. It is an ideal destination for anyone who enjoys coastal walks, stunning scenery, and places full of character.

Much of Alnmouth's charm comes from its natural surroundings. The estuary, dunes, and beach attract walkers, photographers, and birdwatchers throughout the year. The village also has a fascinating history. Once a busy port with strong links to trade and fishing, Alnmouth gradually developed into the tranquil seaside destination it is today. Its maritime heritage can still be felt, particularly when strolling along the waterfront and taking in the ever-changing coastal views.

It is also worth mentioning Alnmouth Golf Club, founded in 1869 and widely recognised as the fourth oldest golf club in England. This historic course adds even more character and prestige to the village.

Alnmouth is neither large nor bustling, and that is precisely its appeal. It is a place of peace, beautiful scenery, and unhurried walks, with the sound of the sea never far away.
